He will leave a huge hole in our lives both as a vet, a friend and an advisor we will miss his dedication to both animals and their owners He has been our vet for many years now and has traveled beside us through our ups and downs, our tragedy's and triumph's.
While we were away he was there fighting to, and successfully saving, Gabbi's sight when she was attacked by another dog, we knew she could be in no safer hands and we still talk about how she should never have recovered as she did after her injuries especially as her sight was never impaired at all. Again when we rushed her in with Piometra we rejoiced together at her recovery none of us expecting it.
How we struggled together to save Ellie Mae and her one pup and the constant exchange and pictures during that intense but satisfying few crucial months , only to rejoice with her next litter of four beautiful healthy puppy's. He was there, again while we were away, when she was brought to him after being traumatised by an uncontrolled labrador with only a week to go until her pups were born, there was nothing he could do to save her or her pups but his kindness and support helped us through this horrendous time.
He has fought to save puppies which he knew I would not just let go of, never questioning my decision to try to save them although sometimes reminding me of the cost and often reduced odds of their survival. He was always there at the end of a phone when I couldn't get in to him.
We never ever forget all he did to save our Fefe life, he was there with us every inch of the way as if she were his own precious pet, his depair at her death and support afterwards was beyond was that of any close friend.
He rejoiced at our successes in the ring as he watched his prodegy's grow up, our litters when they arrived for their first check ups, always pleased to hear of natural births. We shared a intense Christmas lunch/afternoon with him, Debora and a nurse as we struggled to save Fleur and her pups rejoicing in the two we saved Christmas Rose and Christmas Cracker, although the next year I did note that he went abroad for Christmas. I still feel he prefered our Cavaliers to our Bolognese but he knew so many of them over the years. The Bolognese are stil new to him.
He would thrust a microscope under my eyes to show me just what it was that made my pet so itchy, or go to great lenghths to explain exactly what he was doing and why, I was never made to feel silly or ignorant when I asked basic questions so felt Icould ask him anything.
He never made me feel like a "Breeder!" as many vets do, I was to him just, as indeed I am, a person who has pets which she breeds and shows, who loves and cares for them beyond anything else.
We will miss you Trevor, John, myself and our dogs both past and present thank your for all your help, care and true dedication, for the friendship that evolved from our pets, we will wait with some impatience to the time when hopefully you can return to the UK and resume being a truly dedicated English vet again.
